Take part in a costumed 5 km race/walk this Halloween

If you see a bunch of costumed Calgarians running down the street this Halloween, don’t worry; it’s all part of the fun.

The 2020 Dash of Doom is scheduled to take place Saturday, October 31, offering the chance to dress in your best Halloween costume and take on a 5 km race.

This year’s event lands directly on Halloween, so organizers have moved the schedule up a bit to allow for an evening full of trick-or-treating — if you’re legs have it in them!

Given the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, this year’s race will be held starting at 11:30 am and will send out waves of 75 participants at a time.

Along with the 1 km kids fun run and 5 km run/walk, attendees will be able to enjoy a virtual photo booth and awards.

The event is extremely dog-friendly as well, and the pup who wins the yearly dog-costume contest will be featured on the following year’s finisher medals.

Those hoping to stay a little further away from crowds can also complete the run virtually.

Registration opened on Tuesday at noon, and can be completed online starting at $35.
