An additional 33 cases of the COVID-19 coronavirus have been confirmed for Alberta, according to the provincial government on Sunday.
The newly confirmed cases brings Alberta’s total number to 259 cases, including the additional 31 cases announced on Saturday.
To date, 164 cases are located in Calgary, while 60 cases are in Edmonton, 18 cases are in the North zone, 10 cases are in the Central zone, and seven cases are in the South zone.
Of these cases, 18 are currently hospitalized, with seven admitted to intensive care units. One patient has died.
As of this time, three of the confirmed cases have recovered from the illness.
The provincial government continues to advise the public to practice social distancing, stay home, and avoid non-essential trips.
Currently, there are 1,472 confirmed cases of COVID-19 across Canada, including 424 cases in BC, 52 in Saskatchewan, 19 in Manitoba, 425 in Ontario, and 219 in Quebec. To date, 20 people in Canada have died from the illness, and at least 15 have recovered.
