CORE hosting panda events to celebrate zoo's newest members

There’s only one week left until the Calgary Zoo’s Panda Passage is open to the public, and the CORE Shopping Centre is already getting people in the mood for the black and white bears.

Panda-themed events will be running at the centre from now until May 15, including a fashion show, a panda display, and donation that will go directly to the panda habitat.

“We couldn’t be more excited about the Pandas’ arrival in Calgary,” said Allison Onyett, Marketing Director at The CORE, in a release.

“We’re looking forward to helping the Zoo introduce them over the next three weeks and showcase some incredible Panda-inspired fashion.”

Saturdays May 5 and 12 will feature an interactive display on the mall’s second level, along with activity pages, scavenger hunts, and the chance to win a CORE gift card by wearing a zoo membership pin.

On Friday, May 11, the Centre will host a Panda Fashion Show, with models styling the latest fashion on the second level glass bridge at noon (black and white clothes only, of course).

Between now and May 15, 10% of the first 50 gift cards over $50 purchased from guest services will go directly to the Panda Passage exhibit, and those who buy them will receive a free kids’ admission to the zoo.

Panda Passage opens to the public on Monday, May 7, though members of the Calgary Zoo have a chance to get a sneak peek before the doors are officially opened.
