Updated plans for stage 1 of the new Green Line are nearly ready to go.

City of Calgary administration is expected to bring an updated Stage 1 route to the Green Line Committee on April 23, but before they do that they’re taking it to the public in a series of open houses this March.

“We will be sharing new information to help Calgarians better understand what the updated Stage 1 alignment might look like,” said Graham Gerylo, Senior Manager of Planning, Green Line, in a release from the city.

“We would like to hear feedback and answer questions they might have about the changes we’ve made.”

These details will include what Centre Street North could look like with the addition of a surface-running LRT, where stations will be placed in downtown, what type of bridge will cross the Bow River and Prince’s Island Park, how a tunnel entrance will be worked into Eau Claire’s public spaces, and how BRT in Centre Street will be brought up to MAX levels of service.

“It’s important to us to continue working with stakeholders and Calgarians as we move this important project forward,” said Gerylo, “to help them better understand the changes we are recommending, to hear their perspectives, and answer questions that they might have.”
