We might have walked into September, but those who want to get technical with the seasons know that summer actually ends on Sept. 21 — meaning there’s still plenty of time to enjoy some fun Calgary summer events before the chill of winter kicks in.
Sure, the dog days of summer are behind us, and they had everyone panting, but this time of year is the best of both worlds — warm days and cooler nights.
Thankfully, downtown Calgary still has plenty of events to close out the season while taking advantage of this idyllic weather.
End of summer events in Calgary
There are still tons of festivals and events going on until the end of summer, meaning those sunglasses can still get a whole lot of use until Sept. 21.
From local community events like outdoor concerts and night markets to iconic Calgary celebrations like the Calgary International Film Festival (starting Sept. 18), downtown Calgary is still hot despite the tiny temperature drop.
Penny pinchers can even take advantage of the plethora of free events like the Kensington Night Market (Sept. 18) and the Franco Festival (Sept. 19 – 20).
River Hall also has extensive end-of-summer programming, including a Feel Good Funk night, the relaxing Flow by the Bow, and a paw-sitively exciting Dog Adoption day.
The City of Calgary’s website is the place to find all the hot events. It’s regularly updated to accommodate new and exciting events happening downtown. You can even filter for events by category, month, or select options like dog-friendly or free.
Want to promote your event? You can email the city directly and get your program listed on the summer calendar to be part of the events that end the season with a bang.
However you choose to send off your summer in Calgary, stay in the loop with the Downtown Summer Festival Itinerary.
