Canada has the world's worst wireless pricing: Report

It’s no secret Canadians pay a ridiculous amount for wireless data. Now, a new report from Finnish-based mobile data consulting company, Rewheel, shows just how limited Canadians are when it comes to competitive wireless pricing.

Rewheel studied how many gigabytes of 4G wireless data mobile-users in OECD and EU-28 countries were able to get for 30 euros (or approximately $46 CAD).

The study showed that for $46 CAD, Canadians are only getting an average of 2 GB of data for their wireless plans.

Wireless customers in Croatia, Austria, Finland, Lithuania, Slovenia, Switzerland, Latvia, Estonia, and Poland, all receive unlimited data plans for the same amount.

Another breakdown shows how mobile users in Canada and the US are paying “exorbitant mobile broadband gigabyte prices” compared to the other countries included in the study.

This is not the first study to show that Canadians pay an astoundingly high amount for their wireless plans.

In December 2017, a report commissioned by Canada’s Department of Innovation, Science and Economic Development (ISED), Canada pays some of the highest wireless rates in the world.
