
If you’re looking for a nice place to hit the fairway, Calgary has no shortage of options, with eight golf courses in and around the city named among the best in Canada.
The ranking comes from Score Golf, which has published its list of Canada’s 100 best golf courses every other year since 1988.
Courses are evaluated by a panel of 90 volunteer golf experts, who judge the courses based on nine criteria: beauty, design, challenge, strategy, conditioning, par three holes, par four holes, par five holes, and fun factor.
Coming in at 96th place, Priddis Greens’ Hawk Course held its spot from the 2024 ranking. The course is known for its foothills setting just west of Calgary.

Kananaskis’ Mt. Lorette course landed in 89th place, climbing 10 spots from its 2024 ranking. The public course offers Rocky Mountain views and several holes that cross the winding river that runs through the course.

Next up was The Glencoe’s Forest course in Calgary, which landed in 81st place, down from 70th in 2024. The course is known for its challenging layout and well-protected greens.
Stewart Creek in Canmore came in 60th place, dropping almost 30 spots from its 31st ranking in 2024. The course is surrounded by Rocky Mountain scenery and features plenty of elevation changes, making it a fun but challenging course.

Coming in at spot number 58, Kananaskis’ Mt. Kidd course dropped from its 50th-place ranking in 2024. The course winds through a mountain valley, with the Kananaskis River and glacial creeks running through the area.

Milkelson National in Calgary came in at 32nd place, falling from 26th in 2024. The course features wide fairways, rolling terrain, and distinctive bunkers throughout its layout.
Calgary Country Club landed in 30th place, jumping up two spots from 2024. The historic course dates back to 1911 and sits along the Elbow River.
Last but not least, Fairmont Banff Springs came in eighth place, slipping just slightly from seventh in 2024. The iconic course sits beneath the Rocky Mountains and even recently got a shoutout from professional golfer Bryson DeChambeau.

Cabot Cliffs in Nova Scotia came in first place. Other Alberta spots to make the list include The Old Course at Wolf Creek in Ponoka, Royal Mayfair in Edmonton, and Blackhawk in Nisku.
The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge course was the highest-ranking Alberta course, coming in fifth place.
