Calgary’s about to get its very first Black-owned market.

This Saturday will see a market featuring over a dozen vendors set up at the corner of 14th Avenue and 9th Street SW, and will include DJs, food, and entertainment throughout the evening.

According to Instagram account @bomyyc, the market will run from 4 to 10 pm on Saturday, July 18.

“Supporting Black Owned Businesses helps decrease the racial wealth gap by providing Black Business Owners with funds that they are less likely to get from banks, investors, etc,” a post on the page states.
⁣⁣
“And also because Black people in our community make and provide some of the bombest products and services!”

All guests are required to wear a mask to attend the market and stay at least two metres away from others.
