Forgetting something on the train is a recurring nightmare for many people — as it’s likely happened to many of us.

Whether it’s a wallet, a cellphone, a water bottle, or a bookbag, that realization you haveĀ justĀ as those doors slide closed behind you is one that hits right in the gut.

A Calgary woman had the unfortunate experience of leaving behind a bag containing $1,500 on the CTrain on Monday, money that she was planning to use to pay rent.

According to a release from the City of Calgary, the woman called customer service to report the lost bag as soon as she knew it was missing.

A CTrain operator happened upon the bag at the end of the Blue Line at 69th Street Station, while the woman had accidentally left it behind at Westbrook Station — meaning that it travelled alone for four stops and 4.6 km before being discovered.

The bag (and the cash) was ultimately returned to the woman after the CTrain operator reported it.
