Snow, freezing temperatures to hit Calgary December 21

There’s snow way of denying it now: Winter is coming.

Well, technically winter is already here. It’s at your front door, wiping its snow-covered boots on your welcome mat, and ringing the doorbell.

Tomorrow is the first day of winter, is what we’re getting at here.

This Friday, December 21 brings more than a new season with it, however, as the Environment Canada forecast calls for sub-zero temperatures and a 30% chance of snowfall.

Not that too many Calgarians will complain about that forecast, seeing as this city is more than used to its fair share of the white stuff and having to wear a winter coat for half the year.

Still, Friday marks a significant temperature shift for Calgary, which has been enjoying days hovering around 8°C and sunshine for the past few weeks.

Whether or not Mother Nature and Jack Frost will mingle to make some fresh snowflakes for us before Christmas morning comes is still up in the air.

There’s a 30% chance of snow on Friday and a 40% chance on Christmas Eve night and throughout the day on Tuesday, so we’re starting to like our chances.

Just be sure to wear some warm mittens either way!
