February in Calgary can cause some fear among locals due to the chance of bitterly cold weather, but the forecast is creeping up to almost the 20°C mark over the coming days.

The blast of warmer temperatures was in the cards as part of the February forecast for Alberta, and a fresh seven-day outlook is looking downright toasty for our city.

According to the forecast from Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC), Calgary is set to see daytime highs stay at or above 9°C over the next seven days.

Focusing on the upcoming weekend, the warmer daytime highs are looking gorgeous, with Saturday, Jan. 31 and Sunday, Feb. 1 reaching 10°C. Not a bad way to welcome February at all.

Next week is looking dazzling as well, especially on Wednesday, Feb. 4, with a daytime high that is starting to creep up to the 20°C mark, with a mix of sun and cloud. Will the forecast hold true, and maybe even get warmer? Only time will tell.

Environment and Climate Change Canada

According to ECCC, the average high for Calgary around this time of year is -2°C, while the average low is -13°C.

While we look forward to the heat in Calgary, we’d best get out and enjoy it when it does appear. You never know how the tail end of winter can shape up, but looking at the early spring forecast for Alberta, it’s luckily not too nasty.
