Thousands expected to attend Calgary's Vaisakhi celebration
Thousands are expected to attend this weekend’s Canada India International Expo (CII Expo) in Calgary, which will feature Vaisakhi Mela performances throughout the weekend-long event.
Expo organizers say that the expo provides Canadian and India businesses from all over the world a chance to explore, network, and expand trade in Canada and throughout North America.
CII Expo opens with a ribbon cutting on Saturday, April 20 at 10 am.

Vaisakhi Mela performance 2018/Arshad Photography
Vaisakhi is a historical and religious festival in Sikhism which commemorates the birth or establishment of Khalsa by Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the tenth Sikh Guru, in 1699.
It is also a spring harvest festival.
The Vaisakhi Mela performances are on Saturday and Sunday from 2 pm to 6 pm.
