
Thanksgiving is almost here, and that means a long weekend is coming up in Calgary, and some businesses may have adjusted hours.
Whether you’re planning on running some errands or looking to have some fun, we’ve rounded up what will be open and closed for the Thanksgiving long weekend this year.
Calgary Public Library

The Calgary Public Library will operate under its standard weekend hours on Saturday and Sunday, but all locations will be closed for Thanksgiving on Monday. If you’re hoping to spend the long weekend cozied up with a relaxing new read, you’ll want to stop by between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Saturday, or noon and 5 p.m. on Sunday.
Grocery and liquor stores

While grocery and liquor stores are considered essential services and are generally open across the city on holidays, they might be operating on adjusted hours. We advise checking your favourite location before you go, just to confirm:

Movie theatres

Cineplex Entertainment, Landmark Cinemas, and Canyon Meadows Cinemas will be open on Thanksgiving Monday for moviegoers who want to grab some popcorn, snacks, and a comfy theatre seat.

There are a ton of fun places to visit over the Thanksgiving long weekend. You can check out the zoo, which will operate under normal hours on Monday; Telus Spark, which will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; or Heritage Park, which will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Transit

Malls

Malls like Chinook Centre and Market Mall will be operating on their holiday hours on Thanksgiving Monday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Southcentre will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday.
