Now you’ll be able to experience a full orchestra from the comfort of your own home – just make sure to set up that surround sound.
The Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra has started an online streaming initiative aiming to bring the thundering, elegant, and harmonious sounds of the CPO straight to your screens.

The experience may not quite be the same as it would be live (without the use of a giant screen and some pretty fancy speakers, that is), but the initiative offers a way for people to enjoy the music who would otherwise be unable to see the performance.
“The Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra will now be available to the world,” said Paul Dornian, President & CEO of the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, in a release.
“This is an exciting first step in a journey that takes us to places we may never physically arrive at.”
The first stream of the orchestra will be on Saturday, September 30, which coincides with the first performance with Rune Bergmann as Music Director.
The Norwegian conductor is featured in a video released by the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra’s YouTube channel, which delves into his musical origins and the direction he plans to take the CPO.
The stream begins on Saturday at 8 pm, and anyone interested in viewing need only go to calgaryphil.com/live-stream.
The best part? It’s 100% free.
