Calgary is once again getting some recognition as one of the best places to live, according to a new ranking of the most livable cities in Canada.
Canadian real estate company Zolo recently released its list of the 10 most livable cities in Canada. Looking at 36 cities, Zolo ranked communities based on eight factors: home prices, household income, population growth, unemployment rates, crime rates, access to primary health-care providers, annual sunshine, and walkability.
Calgary came in sixth place and was the only Alberta city to make the list. The city scored well for household income, with an average of $129,200, and annual sunshine, recording nearly 333 sunny days per year.
“All things considered, Calgary is an excellent place to call home. Many Canadians have been moving to western Canada over the last several years in search of lower home prices and job opportunities. Additionally, Calgary boasts some of the highest after-tax incomes in the country,” Zolo said.

Its benchmark home price was $569,200 as of September 2026, while its population grew by 5.3 per cent. Calgary also had a crime severity index of 62.9, and 83.8 per cent of residents had access to a primary healthcare provider.
Compared to the other cities in the top 10, Calgary had the highest household income and the most sunny days per year. Zolo also pointed to Calgary’s access to outdoor recreation and its proximity to the Rocky Mountains as some of the city’s biggest draws.
“Calgary is great for families and outdoor enthusiasts, as it offers plenty of recreation facilities and easy access to the Rocky Mountains. With plenty of hiking, mountain biking, snowshoeing and skiing opportunities, it’s easy to get fresh air, no matter the season.”
Despite having the highest benchmark home price on the list, Guelph, Ont., took the top spot, followed by Winnipeg, Man., in second and Regina, Sask., in third.
Calgary is no stranger to the spotlight when it comes to national recognition. The city was recently named one of Canada’s most affordable travel destinations.
