Calgary Flames will have a sponsor’s logo on their road jersey for the first time ever

Fans tuning into NHL action this coming season may notice a slight change to the Calgary Flames’ road jerseys.

The Flames announced this morning that they have partnered with Suncor, a Canadian integrated energy company that has its headquarters in Calgary. The partnership will see the Flames wear a Suncor patch on their road jerseys for the 2025-26 season and beyond.

“We’re extremely proud to welcome Suncor to the Calgary Flames family as our official away jersey patch partner,” said Calgary Sports & Entertainment Corporation president and CEO Robert Hayes. “This is not just a partnership – it’s a powerful connection between two iconic Alberta brands that share a deep commitment to community, integrity and excellence. We look forward to bringing that hometown energy with us on the road this season and for years to come.”

“This is our home town,” said a narrated video the Flames uploaded to X. “Where we rise. Where we work. Where we play. Together, we find ways to move this city forward, finding strength in every teammate. We turn a setback into a comeback, always finding new ways to do it better. We’re the ones that care about the win, and whether we’re home, or on the road, we go hard for this city.”

Fans will get to see the new patch for the first time this Wednesday, as the Flames will open their season on the road in a game at Rogers Place versus the Edmonton Oilers. They will don the jerseys once again the following night in another road outing against the Vancouver Canucks.

This will be a different look for the Flames, who haven’t had a sponsor on their road jerseys to date. That wasn’t the case for their home jerseys, however, as their home uniforms had a Play Alberta patch on them for the 2024-25 season.

The Flames’ home opener will come later in the week, as they are set to welcome the St. Louis Blues to town on Saturday in an afternoon tilt. There has yet to be confirmation on whether the Play Alberta patch will remain on their home sweaters.
