A piece of Calgary Flames history is up for grabs and it's a $9.5M penthouse
A piece of Calgary Flames history is up for grabs, as a penthouse owned by Harley and Rebecca Hotchkiss has hit the market for $9,500,000.
The penthouse, located at 1201, 690 Princeton Way SW, is owned by the Hotchkiss Family Estate and has never been for sale before. It was custom-built by Hotchkiss in 2002.
Harley Hotchkiss was one of six Calgary businessmen who bought and moved the NHL’s Atlanta Flames hockey franchise to Calgary in 1980, along with being a key player in overseeing the construction of the Scotiabank Saddledome.
Hotchkiss passed away at the age of 83 back in 2011.

The penthouse is situated alongside the Bow River and across from Princes Island Park and offers two bedrooms and six bathrooms across its nearly 5,000 square feet of living space.

The property was architecturally designed by Gibbs Gage Architects in conjunction with interior design curated by Arthur Fishman, per its listing, and is on the southwest side of the top three floors of the building.

The breakfast nook is one of my favourite rooms in the house. Beams of sunshine flow through the east, south, and west windows.
The main bedroom also has two sets of doors leading to the French terrace, a fireplace, and a library sitting area.
The east wing of the penthouse holds the large guest quarters, with room for two double beds and a sitting area. The adjoining ensuite has a soaking bathtub and a stunning vanity.

When you add the exterior living space, you come to a grand total of more than 5,500 square feet of space, and it’s so snazzy that the millwork detailing, interior design elements, and furnishings are modelled after “Chateau de Versailles.”
