The offseason has gotten off to an absolutely fantastic start for Calgary Flames forward Jonathan Huberdeau.

The Flames forward took to Instagram this morning to announce that he and his fiancée, Catherine Deslongchamps, welcomed a baby boy this past Saturday. It is the couple’s first child.

“Our little treasure has arrived,” Huberdeau wrote on Instagram. “Jacob Huberdeau. 06-21-25. Best day of our lives!”

While certainly a heartwarming moment, Connor Zary and former Flames teammate Jakob Pelletier had some fun at the fact the couple chose Jacob as their son’s name.

“Good name,” Zary wrote, which promped a quick, “Unreal,” response from Pelletier. Pelletier, who was known for being very close with Huberdeau during his time with the Flames, was also sure to send a supportive message. “Congrats dad,” he wrote.

Pelletier wasn’t the only former Flame having a chuckle over the name, either. Former Flames goaltender Jacob Markstrom also made sure to chime in with his thoughts.

“Congrats to both of you,” Markstrom wrote. “Couldn’t think of a better name.”

Huberdeau and Deslongchamps announced their engagement during the 4 Nations Face-Off break, just two months after they had broken the news about expecting their first child.

The couple will certainly be a busy bunch over this next stretch of time, which makes it great that there’s still plenty of time remaining in the offseason. The Flames aren’t expected to be back in camp until September, while the 2025-26 regular season will kick off in October.
