Calgary Flames prospect Henry Mews didn’t seem to have any struggles adjusting from the OHL to the college hockey ranks.
Mews, who was selected by Calgary in the third round of the 2024 NHL Draft, chose to go the college route after racking up 82 points in 68 OHL games in 2024-25.
He recorded nine assists through just 10 games with the University of Michigan, but unfortunately, that’s all we’ll get to see from him as a freshman.

Mews, 19, was injured in a game on Saturday versus Notre Dame after taking a knee-on-knee hit from Sutter Muzzatti.
The team has since confirmed that Mews will be sidelined for the remainder of the 2025-26 campaign. It’s a huge loss for Michigan, but is even more unfortunate for the player himself, who was in the midst of what was supposed to be a big development season.
The good piece of news from this is that Mews more than proved that he was ready for the collegiate level. While there are still areas of his game that need improving, Mews continues to remain one of the better blueline prospects the Flames have in their organization. The hope now is that he can fully recover from this injury and come back even better in 2026-27.
