Solidarity: A Possibilities event for Trans Day of Remembrance

What: Possibilities, a group for and by the non-monosexual communities (bisexual, pansexual, asexual, and otherwise non-monosexual), hosts a conversation with the goal of writing a collective letter of support from their community to the transgender community. This event is open to transgender and cisgender members, and is an intentionally queer, feminist, and anti-oppressive space.

An Evening with Amitav Ghosh

What: The Calgary Distinguished Writers Program presents An Evening with Amitav Ghosh. Amitav Ghosh was born in Calcutta and grew up in India, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka. He is the author of two books of nonfiction, a collection of essays, and eight novels. His work has been translated into more than thirty languages and he has served on the jury of the Locarno Film Festival and the Venice Film Festival. Ghosh will give a public reading, followed by a book-signing.

Grow your ideas. Brainstorming and networking for entrepreneurs.

What: A night of brainstorming and networking with Mark Shields from emergeHub and fellow entrepreneurs. Mark Shields is the Project Manager of emergeHUB, International Avenue’s social innovation hub. He’s been working to help people start businesses in a wide range of industries, by connecting them to available resources, for the last three years. He holds a BA in History and a post-baccalaureate certificate in Accounting, as well as running his own business as a yoga program instructor. Hosted by Latin Canadian Entrepreneur Centre.

Calgary Walk & Cafe Stop: Riley Park, Kensington & Sunnyside

What: Join Lori Beattie, author of Calgary’s Best Walks and owner of Fit Frog Adventures, for a guided urban walkabout and post-walk independent cafe stop. There will also be an optional post-walk cafe stop at Vendome Cafe.

The Christmas House

What: The Christmas House is a festive collaboration between Outside The Shape and Cory Christopher. Take in the beautiful Christmas lights, music and hot cider while you shop for all your holiday floral and greenery needs. Fresh beautiful wreaths and boughs of winter greens, planter urn inserts, garlands and floral centrepieces will be available amongst many other fresh botanical items.
