What: Join the Canadian Red Cross at a free, multimedia exhibits to take a look into complex humanitarian responses, the humanitarian workers who are providing aid, and the people who are impacted. Faces of Humanity: Meet the Stories Behind the Numbers, is a campaign to shine a light on not only silent emergencies that are impacting millions of people around the world, but to share the stories of the people who are impacted and how they are working to realize their dreams despite the odds against them.

Earth Science for Society Exhibition

What: Explore hands-on, interactive exhibits demonstrating the importance of the Earth Sciences in our everyday lives. During the event, geoscience volunteers actively guide attendees through the exhibits, providing opportunities to learn about Earth Sciences and about potential career opportunities.

SYNC: Tour at the Edison

What: Computer Science and Software Engineering students are invited to join the Hunter Hub and CoDesign Factory for an evening of networking, information, and beer. There will also be a panel discussion on Scaling and Exiting a Calgary-based Tech Company. Panellists will include James Lochrie, Evan Hu, Alice Reimer, and Patrick Lor.

Dinner & a Movie at Heritage Park: Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone

What: You can’t beat a classic with a classic! This ain’t no typical ‘dinner and a movie,’ as Heritage Park brings it up a notch with their delicious, themed three-course dinner in the Selkirk Grille Restaurant, before presenting Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.

Calgary Tower 802 Challenge 2019

What: The 802 Challenge is back in Calgary for the third year in a row, offering Calgarians the chance to brave the 802 steps that climb up one of the city’s most iconic landmarks. Operating on Tuesdays throughout the month of March, the challenge runs from 4 to 7 pm and charges participants $10 a head for a try. Not a bad deal, seeing as usual admission to the Calgary Tower will run you $18, and that’s without the workout. Advance registration is not required, though your best pair of running shoes is definitely recommended.

Peep Show by Janet Wang

What: TRUCK Contemporary Art and Calgary Public Library present Peep Show by Janet Wang, an ode to the online spectacle, as well as an ode to the site in which it is situated.

Nat King Cole 100th Birthday Celebration

What: The National Music Centre presents Jens Lindemann and Matt Catingub with an all-star big band. This international jazz supergroup will perform the music of one of the greatest entertainers in history, Nat King Cole, on the occasion of his 100th birthday.

City of Calgary Youth Hiring Fair 2019

What: The city will be hosting a hiring fair for job-seekers aged 15 to 24 in the Big Four building in Stampede Park. Dress to impress, bring a pen in case you have to complete any forms, and be ready to provide plenty of copies of your resume. Some of the employers present will be hiring from different people of minimum ages.

Heritage Park Ghost Tours 2019

What: Curious Calgarians will have a chance to learn about the ghostly figures that haunt their city by taking a Heritage Park Ghost Tour this spring. Each tour is 90 minutes long and will take attendees through the alleyways and streets of the Historical Village and verse them in various spooky stories that will make their skin crawl. They depart from Gasoline Alley at 7 and 7:30 pm, though the truly terrified would be wise to choose the earlier, brighter tour.

When: Wednesday, March, 20, 27, April 3 and 10 for the adult tours, and March 27, April 3, and April 10 for the family tours

An Epic Adventure on the Great Divide Trail

What: An evening of stories, photos, videos and hiking advice with the first person to yoyo thru-hike the Great Divide Trail. In 2017 Dan Durston and his wife, T, hiked over 2200km to complete the first yo-yo of the GDT (Waterton to Kakwa and back). At this event, Dan will be telling the story of that trip including tales of the never-ending spring snowpack, close calls with wildlife, the remarkable wildflowers of the high Rockies alpine, and how their trip was nearly cut short by one of the most damaging fire seasons in recent history.

Night Tubing at Canada Olympic Park

What: For the remainder of this winter season, the Acura Tube Park will be open on select nights from 5 to 7:30 pm, allowing business-hour-workers the chance to go for a few slides — without the hassle of the crowded slopes on the weekend. If not night tubing, the park is also open on most weekend days from 10 am to 1 pm or 2 to 5 pm.

Dick Lit’s Trivia Night #15: Kevin Kent

What: Join Wordfest for the 15th Edition of Calgary’s most Guilt-Free Trivia Competition, hosted by Richard Kemick. But familiarity with Kent’s work is not required and will not necessarily increase your chances of winning.
