What: Vendors from all over the country are coming to Calgary this month to sell their handmade wares at Northland Village’s holiday-themed Make It! Show. Shop from more than 80 vendors selling beautiful items made by hand, with love. With handmade clothing, art, accessories, gourmet goodies, home decor, children items, and more — conscious consumers will be sure to find gifts for everyone on their list.

Calgary Hitmen Teddy Bear Toss 2019

What: Attendees of the December 1 versus the Red Deer Rebels are encouraged to bring a new small- to medium-sized stuffed animal or toy to the game to throw onto the ice the first time the Calgary Hitmen goal horn sounds.

Holiday Skate Pop-Up Roller Rink at New Horizon Mall

What: New Horizon Mall, Calgary Roller Skate and Alien In-Line present an afternoon of skating on December 7. The whole family is invited to groove to some great tunes under a disco ball, and glide over 10,000 sq. feet of skating space. Admission is free, and guests can bring their own skates or rent a pair of quad or inline skates for $10. Bring donations for the Airdrie Food Bank and receive free stickers. Note that signed waivers will be required to skate

Cineplex Community Day

What: Cineplex wants you to treat yourself to a free movie day on December 7. For the ninth consecutive year, Cineplex Community Day will treat guests to a selection of popular movies. All proceeds from donations and select concession sales will go toward supporting the Boys and Girls Club of Canada. Popcorn, drinks, and select candy will be available to purchase at $2.50, a reduced price. Film this year include: A Christmas Story, Elf, Gremlins, National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, and The Polar Express.

Keep ’em Rolling Roller Nights

Winter ice skating at Olympic Plaza

What: Built in 1988 for the Olympic Winter Games, Olympic Plaza has the only refrigerated outdoor ice surface in the city. You can rent skates down at the plaza if you don’t have a pair of your own. Helmets are strongly encouraged.

Spruce Meadows International Christmas Market 2019

What: The Spruce Meadows International Christmas Market offers visitors a dazzling display of lights, delicious treats, and the perfect place to get a few pre-Christmas-chaos presents. Live entertainment is also planned to be on scene, so be sure to expect a few of your favourite Christmas tunes alongside some more international songs.

Lion’s Festival of Lights 2019

What: The Lions Festival of Lights is back for their 33rd year to brighten up Calgary’s 14th Street NW with over 500,000 shining lights. The display is put together by volunteers who spend thousands of hours creating the shining assortment of Christmas figures and decked-out trees. This year’s festival is now 99% green, as it is created using LED bulbs connected by nearly three kilometres of power cords.

Airdrie Festival of Lights

What: The annual Airdrie Festival of Lights in Nose Creek Park features miniature train rides, children’s activities, live entertainment, and more. The festival is run by volunteers, with entry by donation. Donations are used for general maintenance and upkeep of displays and attractions, and portions of the proceeds go to support local non-profits and youth groups.

2019 Santa Shuffle

What: A festive-focused fun run to help the less fortunate in the community. The 2019 Santa Shuffle features a 5 km fun run and 1 km Elf Walk. The coast-to-coast event raises money for the Salvation Army. Each runner will also receive a finisher medal.

Banff Gondola Mountaintop Christmas 2019
