Sunnyside Open Stage

What: SOS Tuesdays are back for the summer in Sunnyside! Every Tuesday features an Open Mic Jam to entertain, inspire, and support the talent of local artists and neighbours. Warm up your vocal chords, grab your favourite instrument, or just come by to enjoy the night. SOS Tuesdays are hosted by Eugene Saunders and guests, and welcomes all kinds of performances: Music, Dance, Theatre, Spoken Word, Poetry and placemaking, green initiative and anything else the community might offer.

Bowden Sunmaze at Eagle Creek Farms

What: The Bowden SunMaze features a sunflower field spanning three full acres and is home to over 100,000 flowers. The farm, upick, and maze is open rain or shine. Bowden can be reached along Highway 2, is just before Red Deer, and takes about one hour and 20 minutes to reach by car from Calgary.

When: Flowers are blooming beginning the first week of August, mazes open on August 7, 2019

Big Big Tent – Roller-Skate Party

What: Show off how you roll every Wednesday in August when The Big Big Tent transforms into Calgary’s biggest roller rink with the help of Calgary Roller Skate. Bring your own or rent skates on site for an evening of big, big fun.

Who’s in the Hall Wednesdays

Movies at the Meadows

What: The annual celebration is celebrating its 23rd event this year, and it will feature global cuisines from a mix of unique restaurants and beverage companies. Going down from August 8 to 11 at 200 Barclay Parade SW (Eau Claire Market), this event offers patrons free entry and then the opportunity to buy $1 sampling tickets for food and drink once inside. Expect amazing vendors and some live music too.

High River Farmers’ Market

What: Located in High River’s beautiful downtown, the outdoor farmers’ market features over 50 vendors on Thursday afternoons until September 12, 2019. You can expect to find everything from locally grown fresh produce, home-baked breads, pies, fudge, and smoked meats, as well as unique and handcrafted housewares, jewelry, and clothing. There is also always a variety of food trucks selling everything from wood-fired pizzas, hand-made perogies and more.
