Calgary-based coffee shop receives a heartwarming boost

Calgary staple Deville Coffee, like many businesses, has had to suspend operations due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The downtown location in particular has been hit hard, with isolation measures turning Calgary’s downtown core into something of a ghost town.

Franchise partner Cecile Lau was then incredibly surprised to receive an email from Serafina Energy President and CEO Chad Harris and CFO John Lang-Hodge.

Serafina’s employees are regular customers at the downtown Deville location, and the isolation measures meant they were mostly working from home.

The email contained well wishes along with an order for $10,000 worth of gift cards for the energy company’s employees to use when they are back at the office.

“I cannot express how this made me feel. It brought tears to my eyes,” Lau said in the email.

“I wanted to share this story to pass on the good vibes and positivity to the rest of the city. I think this heartfelt story can put a smile on people’s faces.”

Donating money in the form of gift cards is a great option for those people who want to support their local businesses in this unprecedented time by ensuring that they have a chance at reopening when the measures are lifted.
