
A new report just revealed Canada’s top paid CEO’s, and one Calgary-based CEO managed to crack the top ten.
The Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives (CCPA) released its annual report analyzing compensation for Canada’s 100 highest-paid CEOs in 2024.
Gregory L. Ebel, the president and CEO of Enbridge Inc., found himself in seventh place on the list, earning a whopping $23.7 million in 2024.
Ebel took on the role of CEO and president of Enbridge Inc. in June 2023. He previously served as the CEO and president of Spectra Energy, which merged with Enbridge Inc. in 2017, according to the Enbridge Inc. website.

Another Calgary-based CEO made the list in 31st place, R.M. Kruger, the president and CEO of Suncor Energy Inc. Kruger earned an impressive $14.2 million in 2024, but fell from the previous year’s ranking, where he found himself in third place.
The top-paid CEO in Canada was Tobias Lütke, bringing in a massive $205.5 million in 2024. Lütke is the CEO of Shopify Inc.
“Over the 19 years that the CCPA has been tracking CEO compensation, we’ve never recorded a single year’s compensation package that high,” reads the report.
The CCPA found that the average pay of the top 100 highest-paid CEOs in Canada hit a new record in 2024 of $16.2 million. It beat out the previous record set in 2022 of $14.9 million.
Other big names on the list include Mirko Bibic, president and CEO of Bell. He made a total of $12.8 million in 2024. Loblaw president and CEO Per Bank also cracked the top 100, with a total compensation of $11.6 million in 2024.
