Don’t let another year go by where you find yourself standing off to the side, enviously watching the spinning, flipping, twisting, and turning that’s happening on the dance floor.
This is Calgary, after all, and if you can’t throw together a few decent moves to Nitty Gritty Dirt Band’s “Fishin’ in the Dark” by the time the Stampede rolls around next summer, you’ll be, yet again, shamefully outclassed.
Luckily enough, Top Cat Swing is offering a swing dance lesson at the Central Library’s atrium — and though it’s not quite your classic two-step, learning the intricate spins, dips, flips, and rhythm is bound to improve your dance-floor game.

Sure, it might not be quite as flashy as spending your Friday night hitting Cowboy’s, but if you devote a few weekends to mastering your footwork, you’ll be making up for the missed nights out on the town in no time.
Beginners are encouraged to attend, and dancers of somewhat more expertise than yourself will be able to show you the ropes steps.
Whether you want to make this a solo endeavour, turn it into a date night, or bring out the whole crew, all are welcome — just make sure everyone wears something they can move in!
