Canada’s 150th anniversary offers us a special opportunity to celebrate our country with a slew of different activities.
And this is especially true in Calgary where you’ll be able to enjoy free pancake breakfasts, live music, food trucks, art, and much more. Seeing as this year’s Canada Day is super special, you’ll want to get out there and soak it up.

Pathways, Truth & Reconciliation: Aboriginal Awareness
This event is all about creating strategies toward First Nations reconciliation, taking place at the Genesis Centre. The event is happening during Aboriginal Awareness Week and will focus on Truth and Reconciliation in family life.

Canada 150 Celebration – Free Fitness Challenge
When: June 30, 2017, 4 to 6:30 pm
Where: Beltline Aquatic and Fitness Centre
Get your sweat on to celebrate. This one’s taking place at the Beltline Aquatic and Fitness Centre and will include different sport stations that you can participate in for your chance to win recreation prizes. You don’t need to be in shape either since this one’s for all fitness levels and ages. Refreshments will also be provided.
Redball Canada
It’s only here for one week: an art piece that’s travelled all over the world. Redball Canada is the world’s biggest street art work, and will use Calgary’s scenery as inspiration.

Canada Day at Fort Calgary
There’s going to be a free pancake breakfast and who can say no to that? You’ll also enjoy live music and food trucks – but don’t forget to dress up like a Mountie…seriously. You can also anticipate a kids petting zoo, photo booth, paddling race, an opening ceremony with mayor Nenshi, painting, and much more.

Canada Day celebrations at Confederation Park
Another free pancake breakfast not to mention horse-drawn wagon rides, live music, the opening of a 1967 time capsule, and much more.

Canada Day at Central Library
This is your go-to place if you want to learn about and celebrate Canada’s stories. Canada Day at Central Library will be a family-friendly event, so it’s perfect if you have kids. Campfire stories and songs will be spoken in English, French, and indigenous languages. Don’t miss the selfie station, art activities, a story wall, Lego construction pit, a massive chess tournament, and much more.

Canada Day at Studio Bell
Visit Studio Bell and you’ll get to experience live music from all over Canada along with interactive exhibitions. There are also some surprises in store so this event is a must.

Canada Day at Olympic Plaza
If you love arts and culture then this is the perfect stop for you. There’s going to be country line dancers, musical performances, an Alberta Ballet feature, improv, spoken word, and much more.

Canada Day celebrations in Chinatown
A little-known, cool fact: There were Chinese settlers in Canada for almost a whopping century before our country became Canada. This will be a family-friendly celebration of the great contributions that the Chinese have made to Canada, slated to include yummy Asian food, cultural performances, and much more.

Canada Day at Riverfront Avenue
In celebration of our nation’s 150th birthday, Calgary native’s Tegan and Sara will be performing at the Riverfront stage on July 1. Along with music, a full day of fun is planned at Riverfront Ave. From parades, to orchestra’s to the night ending with an amazing fireworks display, this free event is for everyone.
