Calgary's viral '2L Soda House' doubles down on calling it quits this year

The daughter of viral ā€œ2L Soda Dadā€ has taken to TikTok to confirm that, after a decade, their famed Halloween tradition has officially come to an end.

Earlier this year, April Walton, daughter of ā€œ2L Soda Dad,ā€ posted to TikTok to announce that their family will be ending the tradition in 2025. The news sparked mixed reactions from fans who have grown to love visiting the iconic ā€œ2L Soda House.ā€

In 2024, the family also announced that they were stepping back from the tradition because of the sheer effort it took to hand out that amount of soda, but in a last-minute twist, they brought it back with help from sponsors, and they even invited volunteers to apply to help keep the tradition alive.

This year, though, Walton made it clear that the ā€œ2L Soda Houseā€ really isn’t coming back.

@muffarino Thank you everyone 🧔 hopefully we can all have a safe & fun Halloween this year!!! Tbh I’m nervous even posting this video due to people seeing our home but the community has always been good to us and I trust that our privacy will be respected moving forward. #2lsodadad #2lsodahalloween #2lsodagirl #halloween ♬ original sound – fryyur.dj

In her latest TikTok about the topic, Walton is seen dancing in the street with captions reading:

ā€œPSA from the 2L Soda House. We are not doing our iconic 2L Soda Halloween trick or treat this year, and no, this isn’t a joke like last year, haha.ā€

She also addressed rumours about why the family decided to stop, clarifying that ā€œ2L Soda Dadā€ used his pop purchases as a business write-off, so money wasn’t the issue. Instead, it was the effort required to pull it off.

ā€œWe are tired! It’s a lot of work and takes a massive amount of time, energy and people to execute.ā€

Walton added that she’s currently studying to get into law school, while her dad works full-time as an electrician. Safety concerns and growing crowd size have also played a role in their decision.

ā€œ…we ultimately want everyone to have a safe and fun Halloween as always. We can’t compromise the safety of trick-or-treaters.ā€

Fans had mixed feelings, with some thanking them for the memories, and others holding out hope that they’d announce it was really happening after all.

ā€œAll good things come to an end. People will cherish the memories and move on,ā€ one user said. ā€œThanks for bringing so much joy,ā€ another added.
