Butter Block & Co has been operating in a soft-open stage since late January, but this past weekend it celebrated a grand opening in its 17th Avenue space in The Devenish building.
The small batch patisserie has been supplying local coffee shops like Monogram Coffee with treats for a while, but now you can head to this new Calgary spot as a one-stop-shop for all thing croissants and French pastries.
A word of warning to prepare your stomach if you haven’t gone yet – these aren’t the classic delicate flaky kind you’re used to.
Butter Block makes mega croissants filled with dense cream and topped with rich ingredients that make the classic variety look like child’s play for those with a serious sweet tooth.
Some of the varieties they have made here in the past include cheesecake, almond, earl grey, matcha, and chocolate.
Butter Block also makes savoury croissant sandwiches and treats like almond chocolate bread pudding, cranberry lemon poppyseed scones, and other offerings that will make you forget all your problems for a glorious moment in time.
The local purveyor will still provide treats for Sought x Found Coffee Roasters and Monogram Coffee, but there will be some Devinish-location-only treats that will have you planning your trip to the newly (officially) opened 17th Avenue spot.
