Popular Calgary restaurant forced to close temporarily due to a fire

A popular Calgary restaurant has been forced to close its doors temporarily after a fire damaged the premises.
Bridgette Bar, a beloved Calgary spot owned by Concorde Entertainment Group, shared on Tuesday, Nov. 4, that it will be temporarily closed for repairs due to a small fire.
According to Alex Kwan, public information officer for the Calgary Fire Department (CFD), fire crews responded to a call at around 1:40 a.m. regarding a building fire at the 700 block of 10th Avenue SW.

“On arrival fire crew found visible flames and smoke from the rear exterior deck and fire extending along the building. Crew deployed hoselines and quickly knocked down the fire. Fire crews found a locked storage area under the deck and broke a lock to gain entry and verify there was no fire or damage,” Kwan said.
While the building suffered some fire damage to a washroom and the private dining room at the rear of the restaurant, there was “no significant structural damage,” Kwan added. No occupants were found during a search of the building. One firefighter sustained a minor injury and was given first aid at the scene.
A CFD fire investigator was also in attendance and confirmed that the fire appeared to have originated at the back of the building and on the deck, and investigations into the origins of the fire will continue.
In an Instagram post, the Bridgette Bar team said the restaurant would remain closed as they “assess the damage and begin repairs.”
Hopefully, it won’t be too long before Bridgette Bar is open to the public once again.
