Corn mazes, shmorn mazes.

If you really want to get lost (in an absolutely gorgeous field) this summer, we suggest you head on over to the Bowden SunMaze in Bowden, Alberta during the month of August to see a field out of your wildest dreams.

We get that it’s still technically spring, but it’s never too soon to start daydreaming about the ideal summer bucket-list, and a trip out to this field has to be on it.

For a few weeks every summer, the sunflowers at the SunMaze bloom, creating aisle upon aisle of bright yellow flowers for you — and a date, perhaps? — to wander through.

According to the Bowden SunMaze website, the best chance to see the flowers in full bloom would be mid-August, though they also note that the bloom period can start anywhere between the first and third week of that month.

The sunflower field spans three full acres and is home to over 100,000 flowers. Admission to the farm is only $9 for adults, and even less for students and children.

The farm and maze is open rain or shine — but we’d suggest wearing your hardiest pair of rubber boots if it’s a wet one on the day that you want to visit!

Bowden can be reached along Highway 2, is just before Red Deer, and takes about one hour and 20 minutes to reach by car from Calgary.
