Santa is coming to Banff for a visit this holiday season

Nov 19 2020, 9:38 pm

Albertans are encouraged to maintain proper physical distancing, wear a mask when out in public, maintain proper hand hygiene, and stay home if they are feeling at all sick.

Pay a visit to Banff this holiday season to find and meet Santa in a safe, fun, and festive way at The Search for Santa event.

Participants have the ability to choose from two unique experiences: solving riddles and following clues on a town-wide scavenger hunt, or, the all-inclusive magical experience of finding Santa’s secret hideaway, ending with a 10-minute personalized visit with Santa captured by a professional photographer.

“After a year of extreme hardship for so many Albertans, the spirit of Christmas and Santa is needed more than ever,” said Lori Bodkin, the creator of The Search for Santa and a lifelong manager of special events, in a release.

“For over 25 years, I’ve been thinking about finding a way to re-create the most incredible Santa experience I had with my own children. The magic of that moment is a cherished memory and something I know so many families need, this year especially.”

Prizes will be awarded to participants of both scavenger hunts. Participants are encouraged to wear their favourite pyjamas or ugly Christmas sweaters to the event, and prizes will be awarded for the best and most creative team and family outfits.

“Coming up with some really creative solutions to ensure a safe and meaningful experience has taken a true spirit of collaboration between Banff business owners,” said Bodkin.

“While our daily lives have shifted beyond recognition in so many ways, The Search for Santa offers fun, safe, interactive opportunities to celebrate the best of the season and to spread true benefit to a beloved Albertan town that has been hit really hard this year.”
