It may only be the start of November, but the holiday season is already kicking into gear here in Calgary.

One of the staples of a festive season is a visit to Santa while hitting the local mall, and Southcentre Mall has announced that the jolly man himself will in fact be on the scene starting on November 13.

A release from the mall states that a mask-wearing Santa Claus will be around for photo sessions at the mall’s brand new Santa set, which will feature a magical Christmas tree farm.

“While we recognize that holiday shopping will be different this year, we remain committed to providing shoppers with an exceptional guest experience that takes them beyond the commercialism of the season,” said Alexandra Velosa, Marketing Manager of Southcentre Mall, in the release.

“We continue to prioritize the health and safety of all as we provide access to a number of cheerful holiday traditions, including a fresh take on visiting Santa.”

This year’s photo ops can be booked in advance online to allow for physical distancing, and Southcentre Mall also noted that they’ve brought back their sensory-friendly Santa sessions for children with sensory sensitivities or mobility issues on select dates.

Those who want to get a pic with Mr. Claus and their pets can also do so on designated dates.
