It’s no secret that Alberta is full of beautiful destinations, and one spot was recently named one of the most beautiful in Canada by a U.K.-based global publication.
The Independent, a prominent British online newspaper, released a list of six beautiful Canadian destinations, highlighting places across the country that its travel experts love.
Banff was the only Alberta destination to make the cut.
“Banff, a vast expanse of the Canadian Rockies, is a vision of turquoise glacial lakes, snow-capped peaks and soaring green pines,” the publication wrote.

One of its travel experts noted that while Banff’s alpine scenery is what draws global attention, its popularity has also led to heavier crowds across the national park.
They suggested stepping beyond the main tourist areas to experience everything that Banff has to offer, and luckily, there is no shortage of ways to do that.
Whether you want to try your hand at stunning alpine hiking, horseback riding through the diverse landscapes of the region, or simply exploring quieter spots far from tourist hot spots, Banff offers plenty of ways to experience its natural surroundings.

Getting into the backcountry is a great way to fully disconnect and experience the park at a slower pace, with opportunities to spot wildlife and take in views without the crowds found at more popular sites.
The other Canadian spots to make The Independent’s list were Toronto, Prince Edward Island, Vancouver, Victoria, and the Yukon.
