Jarome Iginla hasn’t played in the NHL in a decade, but his name continues to make waves in the hockey world.
The Calgary Flames legend enjoyed an incredible 1,554-game career, and now all three of his children are following in his footsteps.
His son Tij was selected sixth overall by the Utah Mammoth in 2024 and is currently in his rookie season with the AHL’s Tucson Roadrunners. His other son, Joe, was taken in the third round by the Flames this past June and is currently playing for the WHL’s Vancouver Giants.
Having two children competing at such high levels is impressive in itself, but they aren’t the only Iginlas carrying on their father’s hockey legacy.
Jade Iginla has carved out an impressive path of her own.
The 21-year-old forward spent the past four seasons at Brown University, where she served as team captain during her final campaign and recorded 17 goals and 33 points in 32 games.
In an exclusive interview with Offside last season, Iginla revealed that Jade hoped to continue playing hockey after finishing her college career. That opportunity arrived Tuesday, when she signed a one-year contract with PWHL Hamilton.

“Jade is exactly the type of player we want as part of the foundation of PWHL Hamilton,” said general manager Meghan Duggan. “She has demonstrated throughout her time at Brown that she can produce offensively, compete at a high level and, importantly, lead a team.
“Serving as captain is a tremendous responsibility, and Jade embraced that role while continuing to be one of the team’s top offensive contributors. We’re excited about the skill and competitiveness she brings to our forward group, and we believe she has all the qualities to make an impact in our inaugural season.”
Jade was selected 18th overall by Hamilton in the PWHL Draft this past June.
Hamilton is one of four expansion teams set to make its debut this season, joining Detroit, Las Vegas, and San Jose as the PWHL continues to grow.
Fans hoping to see Jade make her professional debut will have to wait a little while longer, however, as the PWHL’s 2026-27 regular season isn’t scheduled to begin until Dec. 5.
