Get in the Stampede spirit with these animal centred events. Watch as the incredible animal athletes and fuzzy friends capture the heart of the new west.

This years Stampede offers the chance to get up close and personal with these awesome animals or watch from afar as they perform feats of athleticism.

Stampede Rodeo


World-class human and animal athletes compete in The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth for more than $2 million in prize money. The Stampede Rodeo features nine epic events over ten action filled days. Get up close and personal as cowboys and cowgirls at the top of their game compete in barrel racing, tie-down roping, steer wrestling, steer riding, saddle bronc, bull riding, bareback riding and chuckwagon racing.

When: Daily starting at 1:15pm.
Where: The Grandstand Arena on the Stampede Grounds.
Price: Tickets are available from $23 to $133 plus tax.

Heavy Horse Pull

These gentle giants show off their amazing strength as teams pull incredibly heavy sleds. These heavy horses include Belgians, Clydesdales, Percheron and Shire breeds that use their extreme horse power in teams of two to pull weights more than five times their body weight over 14 feet.

Where: Agrium West Event Centre
When: July 14 to July 16 starting at 6PM with a warm up and competition at 7PM.
Price: Included with admission.

Dog Bowl

Watch these amazing furry athletes show off their skills in the Dog Bowl Stadium. These fuzzy friends perform amazing feats from high jumping, to gravity defying agility courses and dock diving. These dog’s performances will be sure to impress the whole family. A new special performance has been added this year to coincide with the fireworks, and the Dog Bowl venue becomes a fireworks viewing zone.

Where: The Stampede Midway.
When: July 13 to 16 at 11:30 am, 2, 4:15, 6:30, 8:45 and 10:45pm

Country Critters

You never know who will you get to meet at the Calgary Stampede!

Visitors get the chance to visit and play with local farmyard animals. Give these critters a visit for the chance to meet lambs, sheep, oxen, horses, geese and even a llama while learning the role these animals play in our everyday lives. The event also features interactive exhibition that lets guests fully embody the farm experience.

When: July 13 to 16 from 11AM to 9PM.

Budweiser Horses

Meet the world famous Budweiser Clydesdales (and their two Dalmatian pals). These world famous Clydesdales have joined the ranks of past horses that have being pulling the wagon since the 1930’s. Visitors can visit the eight-horse hitch during their stop at the Stampede as part of their world tour. Guests will be amazed out how tall these gentle horses stand.

Where: Daily at the Great FUNtier and every night in front of the Grandstand.
When: Everyday of Stampede.
Price: Included with admission.

Agrium Barn Tours

Join in on one of these free tours to meet the animals that make the Calgary Stampede possible. Knowledgeable tour guides will take guests through the Ag Zone barns for a hand on experience with the animals of Stampede. Join in for your chance to learn more and pet horses, sheep, cows and more.
