Alberta asks travellers from UK to get tested for COVID-19 "immediately"

Dec 21 2020, 7:50 pm

Alberta health officials are asking anyone who’s arrived from the United Kingdom in the past 14 days to get tested for COVID-19 immediately.

Testing is “strongly encouraged” for anyone in Alberta who’s travelled from the UK in the past two weeks, whether they have symptoms or not.

Alberta Health Services will be contacting travellers directly to book a test.

“Also, travellers from the United Kingdom who are participating in the border pilot must immediately quarantine, whether they’ve had a negative test or not,” read the statement.

This news comes after Canada closed the border to all flights entering from the UK starting at midnight on December 20th due to a new coronavirus strain.
