An early look inside a world-renowned burger spot opening in Alberta soon

The wait is almost over for Shake Shack to open its first Alberta location, and we got an inside look at what it has to offer.
The world-renowned burger chain is set to open to the public on May 11, 2026, at CF Chinook Centre in Calgary, bringing its signature menu, along with a few Alberta-exclusive items you won’t find anywhere else.

Ahead of the opening, we got an early taste of the menu to see exactly what Albertans can look forward to, including local ingredients.
Of course, it wouldn’t be Shake Shack without the famous ShackBurger, which features 100 per cent Alberta Angus beef, lettuce, tomato, cheese, and the brand’s signature ShackSauce. Everything comes together to make the perfect flavourful burger.

Other burger options we tried included the ‘Shroom Burger, a vegetarian option that features a fried portabella mushroom filled with Munster and cheddar cheese, which delivers an amazing cheese pull, and the Chicken Shack, made with super crispy breaded chicken, lettuce, pickles, and an amazing buttermilk herb mayo.

When it comes to something sweet, Shake Shack offers a lineup of desserts, including frozen custard, milkshakes, and concretes.
They have some Alberta-exclusive treats, including the Oh My Honey Pie Concrete, which features vanilla frozen custard blended with salted honey pie from local pie shop, Pie Junkie, and topped with flaky sea salt, which makes for the perfect sweet and salty finish.

In support of the Alberta Children’s Hospital, five per cent of sales from the Toasted S’mores Concrete will be donated. The dessert features frozen chocolate and vanilla custard, toasted marshmallow sauce, fudge sauce, graham cracker crumbs, and chopped chocolate pieces.
The Prairie Berry Shake is also an Alberta-exclusive, made with vanilla frozen custard, crushed golden cookies, and saskatoon berries from Prairie Berries, topped with whipped cream, cookie crumbles and Saskatoon berry dust. The Saskatoon berries give it a slightly tart flavour that really brings everything together.

The drink menu rounds out the offerings with options like lemonade and iced tea. It also includes alcoholic beverages, such as the Shackmeister Ale in partnership with Minhas Micro Brewery and the Passionfruit Mojito in collaboration with Burwood Distillery.
