Another weekend in Alberta, another three-day coronavirus update.

The Province of Alberta’s most recent numbers show that cases rose by 257 over the past three days, with 108 on August 7, 101 on August 8, and just 48 on August 9.

A total of 8,779, 10,166, and 7,412 tests were administered on these days, respectively.

While the new cases bring Alberta’s total up to 11,687, the province found that more people recovered over the past three days than new cases were detected, resulting in a reduction in active cases by 35.

There are just 1,090 current active cases in Alberta as of Monday, August 10, though a portion of that reduction is due to five new deaths in the province, bringing the total number of coronavirus-related fatalities to 213.

Edmonton recently surpassed Calgary for the largest number of active cases, at 388 to YYC’s 365.

10,384 Albertans have recovered from the virus over the course of the ongoing pandemic.

As always, Albertans are encouraged to practice physical distancing, wear a mask when in public, maintain proper hand hygiene, and stay home if they are feeling at all sick.
