Alberta's new daily coronavirus cases spike to highest number all week

Alberta saw a spike in daily new coronavirus cases Wednesday, reporting 127 new infections.

That’s by far the highest number of new cases of any day this week, even surpassing Saturday’s 106 new cases.

The new infections eclipsed recoveries on Tuesday, increasing the province’s active case count to 1,176.

The Edmonton zone continues to account for more than half of the province’s active infections, reporting 625 on Wednesday.

No one else died from the virus in the last 24 hours, leaving Alberta’s coronavirus death toll at 235.

The province has now seen a total of 13,210 coronavirus infections since the pandemic began. Of those, 11,799 people are considered recovered.
