Coronavirus cases in Alberta are on the rise.

Again.

New numbers from the province show that active cases, which had been on a somewhat steady decline throughout August, saw a 40-case increase in the 24 hours since Tuesday’s update.

Active cases currently sit at 1,044, while total cases are now at 11,893 following the 121 that were recently added to the count.

The largest spike in active cases was seen in the Edmonton region, which jumped from 401 to 470 over the past day.

Calgary, meanwhile, saw a decrease from 322 on Tuesday to 312 on Wednesday.

One additional death occurred in that time as well, bringing the total fatality count to 217.

As always, Albertans are urged to practice physical distancing, wear a mask in public, maintain proper hang hygiene, and stay at home if they are feeling at all sick.
