Coronavirus cases are higher than they’ve ever been in Alberta.

New numbers emailed to Daily Hive from the Province of Alberta show that, over the past 24 hours, Alberta has seen a higher increase in daily cases than at any other point in the pandemic.

A total of 406 new cases of coronavirus were detected in the province on October 20, surpassing the previous record high of 372 confirmed and seven probable cases that were seen on October 18.

Active cases have also marked an all-time high in Alberta at 3,372, continuing the steady rise we’ve been seeing since the start of October.

Three more people died in Alberta as a result of coronavirus, bringing the fatality total to 296.

There are currently 113 people in hospital with coronavirus, and 16 of those patients are in intensive care units.

As always, Albertans are encouraged to practice safe physical distancing, wear a mask when out in public, maintain proper hand hygiene, and stay home if they are at all sick.
