A new Guinness World Record has landed in Alberta, and it belongs to Beef the steer, a towering Holstein cow.
Beef is officially the worldās tallest living steer, coming in at a whopping 1.95 metres, or 6 ft 5 in, surpassing the previous record holder by half an inch. He lives in Picture Butte with his owner, Jasmine Entz.

Entz decided to keep Beef as a pet after bringing him home from the dairy farm where she works.
āWhen I originally got Beef, it was with the intent to break him to ride like a horse, and I knew he was going to get big, but I never expected he was going to get this big,ā she said when speaking with Daily Hive.

Entz says when Beef was a baby, he was just your average Holstein calf.
āHe was 80 pounds⦠I could fling him over my shoulder and walk away, and then here he is at six foot five. Heās grown a little bit. I couldnāt do that now,ā she laughed. Now, Beef weighs over 2,400 pounds.
For such a massive cow, Entz says she got lucky with beef and his calm temperament.
āGiven his size and strength, he’s very easy to handle, very respectful of fencing and buildings and stuff like that,ā she said. āHeās such a funny character, he loves any kind of attention, he knows his name, and he comes for a snack any chance he gets.ā

As for his world record, Entz thinks it’s pretty neat to have a Guinness World Record certificate hanging on her wall in the small Alberta community.
āItās pretty cool, having grown up reading these books, that was always the highlight of the school year, the new Guinness book coming out⦠and now weāre in it, and I never couldāve dreamt of being in it.ā
You can find Beef in the 2026 edition of Guinness World Records, which was just released online and in stores.
