Albertans who haven’t applied for the province’s $100 Energy Rebate now have a little more time to get their applications in.

The Alberta government has extended the application deadline for the rebate to Oct. 31, giving Albertans an extra month to submit their applications for the one-time payment.

More than 1.45 million Albertans have already received the rebate, according to Finance Minister Jason Nixon.

Applications for the rebate opened back on Canada Day, and the original deadline was set for the end of September.

If you haven’t applied yet, Alberta residents who are 18 or older, have filed a 2025 tax return, and have a household income of $225,000 or less are eligible to apply for the Energy Rebate through a secure online portal.

Rebates will be delivered by e-transfer directly to your bank account or by email within 14 days of applying. Rebates are non-taxable and will not affect other government benefits.

The province has also added a third payment verification option to the online portal. Along with online banking and document verification, applicants can apply for their Alberta Energy Rebate using their 2025 Notice of Assessment to verify their information.
