Alberta has now seen 300 deaths related to coronavirus

Four more people died in Alberta as a result of coronavirus over the past 24 hours.

The Province of Alberta’s updated coronavirus numbers show that there have now been a total of 300 deaths related to the virus as of this Friday.

The new fatality total comes alongside stats showing that active cases have yet again reached an all-time high for the province at 3,651, and total cases of COVID-19 in Alberta reached 24,261, the result of yet another record-high 432 new cases detected over the course of one day.

Broken down by region, 136 of Alberta’s now 300 deaths were located in the Calgary Zone, 94 in the Edmonton Zone, eight in the Central Zone, 27 in the South Zone, and 35 in the North Zone.

Alberta has a case fatality rate of 1.2% and a hospitalization rate of 4.3%.

The majority of the province’s deaths were of people aged over 80 years old (191), though there have been two deaths apiece for the demographics of 20 to 29 years old, 30 to 39 years old, and 40 to 49 years old.

The remaining fatalities were of people aged between 50 and 79.

Canada has seen a total of 9,866 coronavirus-related deaths over the course of the pandemic.
