Active coronavirus cases on the decline for all Alberta regions

Aug 19 2020, 11:13 pm

Alberta saw 84 new coronavirus cases detected in the past 24 hours, but that number was outpaced by combined recoveries and deaths in that same timespan.

According to new numbers from the Province of Alberta, there are currently 1,107 active cases of coronavirus within the province, which is 67 fewer than Tuesday’s count.

The reduction in active cases is due in part to the 111 new recoveries registered on August 18, though the active case drop is also accounted for by the two new deaths seen over the past day.

Active cases are down in every Alberta region, with Calgary dropping by one, Edmonton by five, the Central Zone by 47, the South Zone by six, and the North Zone by four.

A total of 11,167 Albertans have recovered from coronavirus during the now five-month-long pandemic, while 227 have died.
