From the outside 1918 Tap & Table looks like your typical modern casual eatery and pub, but once you learn a bit more about this Kensington spot, you’ll note it’s not like anything you’ve heard of in Canada before.

This brand new Canadiana restaurant, located at 1918 Kensington Road, opened last month on the first level of the new Kensington Legion building, and its 140 seats seem to have been kept  pretty full ever since.

This branch of The Royal Canadian Legion is one of the largest, and to support their endeavors and continue to gain membership, they’ve opted to open this public eatery – the first of its kind in the country – with its profits going towards their organization and community programs and ventures.

1918 Tap & Table has been piquing the interest of patrons because of its drool-worthy menu (which rotates every three months) with offerings such as flatbreads, pastas, chicken wings, and great selection of local brews.

The second level of the brand-new club is reserved for legion members, and includes a private patio and live music on weekends.

As if that wasn’t reason enough to become a member, those in the legion also get 10% off food at 1918 Tap & Table.

Whether you’re a member of the legion or not – 1918 Tap & Table is sure to become a go-to for hungry Calgarians in the Kensington neighbourhood.
