'With heavy hearts': Iconic Vancouver clothing store has closed after 18 years

After nearly two decades in Vancouver’s South Granville neighbourhood, chic lifestyle store Zebraclub has closed its doors for good.
The store with an eye-catching facade, located on the southwest corner of Granville Street and West 15th Avenue, closed during the holiday season on Friday, Dec. 26.
The shop billed itself as “a careful curation of cool stuff,” with apparel, artwork, and lifestyle items.
In a statement posted on the store’s door as well as its website, Zebraclub Vancouver announced that it was “with heavy hearts” that it was saying goodbye.

“We want to take a moment to say that we wouldn’t have made it this far without you, our community,” said Zebraclub Vancouver in its closure announcement. “From the customers who’ve visited us weekly for years, to the staff who filled this space with creativity and energy, the agencies who helped us curate something special, our artists in our residency who have dressed our windows with their beautiful work, the small business vendors who have kept us inspired and to our amazing Seattle team, thank you.
“You’ve all been a part of what made this store feel like home.”

Zebraclub Vancouver was a popular shopping destination for lifestyle items like candles and ceramics, vintage pop-ups, unique clothing, and more.
It also hosted and showcased local artists-in-residence and works like floral art, paintings, and photography.
Fans on social thanked Zebraclub Vancouver for all of the memories over the years.

“I’m not a fashion guy, but I liked this place,” added another. “It was fun, and the staff was cool. I’m sure you’ll be dearly missed by all of your clientele. Wishing the best for all of its employees to find inspiring new opportunities.”

The final sentence in Zebraclub Vancouver’s announcement reflected that mutual admiration back to its supporters over the 18 years that it was in operation.
