Today is the busiest travel day of the season at YVR

While Santa may have the luxury of his own sleigh to fly around in at Christmas, the rest of us are still relegated to using airplanes. And at Vancouver International Airport (YVR) this means a busy holiday season for travellers and staff.

And today (December 21), is the airport’s busiest travel day of the season.

According to YVR, over 83,000 people are expected to pass through the airport today.

On its website, YVR offered people a number of travel tips to weather the busy day, not least of them being to leave extra time.

And while the weather is primarily clear (for now) over Metro Vancouver, the airport has also noted that delays can still happen due to adverse weather at other destinations.

For those carrying gifts, YVR also reminded people not to wrap them prior to boarding, as the contents of anything wrapped “may need to be inspected during the pre-board screening process.”

Moral of the travel story today? Plan ahead, leave yourself a lot of time, and be prepared for a bit of a wait.

Happy holidays.
