Yulin' with the Page - A Christmas Tradition I Miss (VIDEOS)

Dec 19 2017, 9:19 pm

If you’re like me, there’s one thing you miss as a sports fan at this time of the year: Yulin’ with the Page.

Yulin’ with the Page was an annual tradition put on by the popular local sports highlights show, Sports Page. It ran on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day so that staff could spend time with their families and it made sense given that the sports calendar is fairly empty on December 24-25.

Sports Page was a 30 minute, Vancouver-based sports highlights show that lasted from 1977-2005. The show was responsible for launching the careers of many successful sports broadcasters such as Don Taylor, John Shorthouse, Dave Randorf, Barry Macdonald, Paul Carson, Dan Murphy and Blake Price, just to name a few.

Yulin’ with the Page took a look back at the year in sports, but it was much more than a “year in review” show that you see on other networks. It was far more entertaining and funny than anything you see on TV today.

Thanks to YouTube user bimmer1919, we are able to take a trip down memory lane. Let me take you back to the mid-90s and Yulin’ with the Page. These videos were taken from Sports Page’s prime and feature hosts Don Taylor, John Shorthouse, Barry Macdonald and Paul Carson. Make sure to watch until the end to see a young Trevor Linden interview Jyrki Lumme, who is wearing nothing but a towel that is way too small for him.

Merry Christmas everyone!
